This one's a bit off the path for this year's song topics, but it's been on my mind a lot over the past ... well, several years really. The song's a rough one take acoustic demo with flaws and interesting background sounds at times and still needs some polish and editing, but the core idea's there.
It's a political plea to both sides to seek the center rather than the extreme right and left. With forces pulling left and right all we get is torn apart. It's time to come together and heal this once great country before it's too late.
Lyrics
When you build a giant house of cards, best not start it on a fault line, surrounded by storms and crashing waves.
When news of all the lies, double standards, back room deals, get out of jail free cards leak out it all comes crashing down.
Civil unrest loyalty put to the test. The world looks on as it slips away, Rome wasn't lost in a day, there's still time to save it, if we come together I know, I know, I know we can save it.
When you defend the lies with more untruths, stand tall against a clear path through, instinct driven from being on the take for so long.
Civil unrest loyalty put to the test. The world looks on as it slips away, Rome wasn't lost in a day, there's still time to save it, if we come together I know, I know, I know we can save it.
Cast aside the loyalties, bought and paid for long ago. It's time to make a choice, do what's right for the country as a whole. Not worry about those you're on speed dial to, or their bottom line. When the History books look back will you be remembered, will you be revered, or laughed at and jeered for?
Civil unrest loyalty put to the test. The world looks on as it slips away, Rome wasn't lost in a day, there's still time to save it, if we come together I know, I know, I know we can save it.
