From the recording FAWM 2024
Written on 2/6/24, this one is an anthem for everyone who's always there for others but refuses to ask for help for themselves. It's also some positive self talk for me, as I'm as guilty as anyone for doing this.
Lyrics
Some say Jesus take the wheel
When you're going off the rails to hard to change
I've found that's the perfect time to phone a friend
The good ones have your back
When you're hanging off the ledge
And your line's about to snap
Holding out a hand changes a lot
When it's good friends that you've got
Out of sight ain't out of mind
And distance don't break bonds
When that signal goes up,
The good ones come running
That line begins to form
Your sinking raft begins to float
That's when you find out who folks really are
When good friends are in your corner
I'm sure the man upstairs can hear your prayers
He's just likely busy
When you've reached the end of your rope
And need an answer quickly
That's when you phone a friend
Don't bottle it all up,
Let it out, so you can let folks in
If you don't share your pain they can't help
Can't pitch in
You'd be there for them, and you're damn well deserving
When it's time for your turn let them return it
'Cause it's good friends that you've got
