From the recording FAWM 2024
Written on the 8th, I finally had time to record a demo for this one. I often say songwriting is a cross between a podium, a soapbox, a confessional and a therapist. This one falls mostly into the latter category. It's a love song of sorts, pretty dang autobiographical, but also relatable for anyone who struggles with self worth, depression and doubt.
Lyrics
I've never been enough for me, how can I be enough for you
I don't see it, can't believe it
I've never had much to give, one step away from losing it
My whole world keeps falling down
But still you stand beside me
Holding my hand, though I can't see why
The bank account is overdrawn, Bills are piling up again
Taxes on the house are way past due
Been searching for a way out, won't be long till the car dies
The final nail in the coffin comes soon
But still you stand beside me
Holding my hand though I can't see why
Life's been coming off the rails
They say it must be love
How can you love living like this?
In sickness and health, in good times and bad
Good, huh? We're overdue for that
A glimmer of hope is what we need, a guiding light to believe
A gentle hand to lead us from the edge
Life's been coming off the rails
They say it must be love
How can you love living like this?
In sickness and health, in good times and bad
Good, huh? We're overdue for that
We need a course correction before it's too late
Find a way to save what can be saved
I may not see it
I don't say it near enough
But I'm thankful for having your love
You still stand beside me
Holding my hand though I can't see why
Life's been coming off the rails
They say it must be love
How can you love living like this?
In sickness and health, in good times and bad
Good, huh? We're overdue for that
