From the recording FAWM 2024
I've had a few friends pass away recently, and it's had me thinking a lot about my mortality, what I leave behind, and what I'd say if I had the chance. While I don't have any plans for finding out first hand what happens next, you never know, and sometimes death comes when you're busy making other plans. I suppose this song is a self eulogy of sorts. I don't plan to release it but I'll do a full recording and hold on to it as something to leave behind for friends and family whenever that time comes.
Lyrics
If you're hearing this after I'm gone
Just know I did the best I could
Through all life's little ups and downs
Fought like hell to move forward
Chasing a dream, holding to hope
As elusive as it seemed
Through thick and through thin
Despite all the struggles
I did my best to find the joy in
This crazy life
Though it wasn't easy
I had good friends and family with me
Through thick and through thin
I've often said music was confessional and soapbox
A pulpit, so here's a few thoughts
If I've come to know you, and you to know me
That connection was a gift
A light in the storm, a symbol of hope
As precious as can be
Through thick and through thin
Despite all the struggles
I did my best to find the joy in
This crazy life
Though it wasn't easy
I had good friends and family with me
Through thick and through thin
You may be gathered 'round
At the end of my run
But don't shed a tear
We had us some fun
Those memories of us just can't be replaced
Through thick and through thin
Despite all the struggles
I did my best to find the joy in
This crazy life
Though it wasn't easy
I had good friends and family with me
Through thick and through thin
Despite all the struggles
I did my best to find the joy in
This crazy life
Though it wasn't easy
I had good friends and family with me
Through thick and through thin
Through thick and through thin
