FAWM, or February Album Writing Month. Day 1
I've been doing this long enough that I'm trying to push the production side more than the songwriting this go around. The lyrics and chord arrangement were done in about 15 minutes, but building the song, being my weak link, took all afternoon. Is it perfect? Hardly. It's a home-recorded demo, but it's available for download if you like it.

I'm at a mental crossroads, considering the state of the world and world religions. As such, many of this year's new songs will likely tackle the apparent hypocrisy rampant here and elsewhere.

Lyrics

The good book says we should love our neighbors,
I'm not feeling much love right now.
We're taught that we should feed the homeless,
So why are many turning their backs?

Me first has never been the way
For anyone that hopes to be saved
Stop blaming others for their sins
Spend time on self reflection
Then try to admit your own mistakes.

His teachings say money's not the answer
Yet the church is being bought wholesale
Thou shall not covet is commanded
A man is worshipped though he does little else

Me first has never been the way
For anyone that hopes to be saved
Stop blaming others for their sins
Spend time on self reflection
Then try to admit your own mistakes.

It's not too late to turn this ship around
To course correct, even though we're floundering
We still have time to mend our ways
Repent and try again, if we see we were mistaken

Me first has never been the way
For anyone that hopes to be saved
Stop blaming others for their sins
Spend time on self reflection
Then try to admit your own mistakes.
