Being behind in my FAWM production and needing to make up ground fast, I turned to the FAWM forums. Written to the skirmish prompt from 2/19/25, Time for a Break, this tune was a quick write and record that held to the spirit of the challenge, creating a listenable song and having it posted in under an hour, even if I didn't start until three days later.
Using a mix of moveable open chord voicings and first position chords, mainly in an E major and minor shape and partial F major shape, this song uses most of the fretboard.
Lyrics
It's time for a break
Sometimes I get stuck in my head
Can't find my way out
The gears spinning round and round
But they just won't engage
I need a change, yeah
It's time for a break
It's' time for a break.
The clock hands are racing by
But I can't find the time
My hands working overtime
But I get nothing done
I need a change, yeah
It's time for a break
It's time for a break
Step outside to clear my heart and mind
'Cause what I'm doing's not working no more
Wave hello to people passing by
Try to remember how to smile
I need a change
It's time for a break
It's time for a break
It's time for a break
