The Michigan State Fair is home to their annual Superstar Competition. Independent artists and bands from across Michigan created and submitted a video performance entry earlier this year. That pool of contestants was narrowed to just under 40 acts, who were invited to audition live in July. That group was further cut until 14 artists were selected to advance to the live semifinals stage of the competition. I have been incredibly honored to have Advanced to the semifinals for three consecutive years, despite the fact that the competition is tougher every single year. Year 1, I placed 6th, narrowly missing being among the top 5 finalists. Year 2, I placed 8th. This year, I’m shaking things up a bit. It will be my first time competing with additional accompaniment. Joining me will be Blaise Glander, a phenomenal guitarist, performer and singer-Songwriter in his own right, and my son, Devon Benbow, playing bass. Both Blaise and Devon will be adding harmony vocals to the prrformance, as well, and have been working incredibly hard with me through countless hours of rehearsals leading up to this event. UPDATE:. This year‘s Results are in, and I placed 7th among an incredibly talented and driven group of performers.
